Indian summer

The late summer and autumn in the north west highlands will be remembered for the long spell of beautiful weather, with endless warm sunny days. Many who stayed at Culnacraig enjoyed some of the best weather of 2016, and already many are looking ahead to another trip in 2017. This late October view shows the view across to Quinag and Suilven, from the coast between Achnahaird and Garvie Bay. The sunshine was warm, almost hot, and we had a glimpse of a sea eagle as we walked down the boggy path to Garvie Bay. The following day we climbed Quinag, but the weather had changed and we were buffted by a strong and surprisingly cold gale on the summit. The highland autumn was turning the corner into more usual weather patterns with lots of wind and rain. The autumn colours were in full splendour in Coigach as we headed for home at the end of the month after a short half term holiday.
